Withdrawal plan

How long will my corpus last?

Draw a monthly income from a corpus and see when it runs out — or what is left if it does not.

Balance after 25 years

₹2,58,50,440

Lower than an equity assumption: a portfolio being drawn down usually sits mostly in debt.

At 8% a year, ₹50,000 a month leaves ₹2.59 Cr after 25 years. Withdrawing much beyond 6% of the corpus a year is where plans usually break. Withdrawals are taken at the end of each month and the balance is compounded monthly.

What this assumes

Flat, not indexed to inflation
Returns
Constant, as you set them

What it does not account for

  • Inflation on the withdrawal itself. A flat income buys less every year — raise the amount to see the real cost.
  • Capital gains tax on each redemption, which is deducted from what reaches you.
  • Exit load, where units are sold inside the load period.
  • Sequence of returns, which matters far more when withdrawing than when accumulating: a poor first decade can end a plan that the average return says should have survived.

A number is not a plan.

The calculator tells you the size of the gap. Closing it takes a scheme selection, an allocation and a review schedule.
